Himalayan Salt & Lamps
Do you know what Himalayan salt is? Do you own a Himalayan Salt Lamp? Himalayan salt in my eyes is absolute heaven on Earth! I can NOT live without my Himalayan Salt Lamps! I have a Himalayan Salt Lamp in EVERY single room at my house and at Head to Toe Oasis, LLC!!!

History of Himalayan Salt
Himalayan salt was formed roughly around 800 million years ago, according to geologists! The salt was mined from the great Salt Range of the Himalayas. Geologists believe that the Great Salt Range were formed when tectonic plate movements formed a mountain range that trapped a shallow inland sea, which was slowly dehydrated and buried deep in the earth, forming thick, mineral-rich sea salt deposits.
It wasn't until 1849 when the salt w as mined. "British mining engineer named Dr. Warth helped design and build a tunnel into the salt range, allowing better access to the salt deposits. His “pillar and chamber” mining method — still in use today — called for the excavation of 50 percent of the salt, while the remaining 50 percent was left as structural support for the mine."
Culinary Uses
The Himalayan people first used the salt as a preservative. It helped to keep their fish and meat from spoiling for long periods of time. Pink salt is used the same way table salt would be used in cooking and baking. However, Himalayan Pink Salt is higher in mineral content than traditional table salt. It is considered a true gourmet cooking salt by top chefs. It also adds an interesting pink color and different texture to foods which can bring something special to your cuisine. This salt is a wonderful ingredient in grilling, cooking, roasting and seasoning foods.

What is Himalayan Salt Lamps
Himalayan Salt Lamps are hand craved out of chunks of Himalayan Salt then a light stuck into the lamp for a peaceful pink glow! True Himalayan salt lamps are made from salt harvested from the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. These lamps are decorative lights for any room in the house, work or shop!
How do Himalayan Salt Lamps Work
Salt lamps are said to provide health benefits because they are “natural ionizers,” meaning they change the electrical charge of the circulating air. The natural ionizers will pull all the negative energy out of the room for a positive atmosphere.
It’s suggested that Himalayan salt lamps may produce ions by attracting water particles that evaporate off as a salt solution when heated by the lamp, forming mostly negative ions. When the lamp "sweats" this is the water particles coming off the lamp.
Salt lamps are often claimed to improve the air quality of your home!! They are very beneficial for people with allergies, asthma or diseases that affect respiratory function, such as cystic fibrosis. The claim that they are good for people with respiratory conditions may be partly based on the ancient practice of halotherapy. In this therapy, people with chronic respiratory conditions are said to benefit from spending time in salt caves due to the presence of salt in the air.
Another frequently made claim is that Himalayan salt lamps can boost your mood. Exposure to high levels of negative ions in the air may improve levels of serotonin, a chemical involved in mood regulation! However, researchers did find that people with depressive symptoms who were exposed to very high levels of negative ions reported improvements in their mood.
Himalayan Salt Lamps are great for a better night sleep as well, the effects of air ionization on relaxation and sleep. Using the dim light from a Himalayan salt lamp may help promote sleepiness toward the end of the day if you use it to replace bright electric lights. This is because bright light before bed can delay production of the sleep hormone melatonin.
In my eyes Himalayan Salt and Lamps are they way to go in everyday life! This is a healthier and easier way of life to improve the atmosphere!
