Why Massage Therapy!
You were always asked as a little kid, and growing up "what do you want to be when you grow up?" As a kid, I probably wanted to be the typical answer most kids say, a doctor, a lawyer, or an astronaut! Looking back on growing up I couldn't tell you what I wanted to be when I grew up....that was a long time ago, you know!!
Always at family gatherings since I was little, I would be asked to massage someone's feet or back! My family always said how amazing I was at massaging but I just didn't believe them at the time! Sometimes your family doesn't know it all, but in the end, they really do!
Sophomore and Junior Year of High School
Finishing up my sophomore year of high school I had to decide if I wanted to go to the career center for my junior and senior year of high school. I thought and thought about it and decided to go into Cosmetology. I always looked up to my cousin Ashley that is a cosmetologist as well! I thought I want to be like her and help change peoples lives by the way they look and feel, help with someone else's self confidence! So, I followed that dream for my last two years of high school! I had an absolute blast learning everything cosmetology has to offer; hair color, perms, hair cuts, manicures, pedicures, waxing's and s0 much more! Cosmetology definitely grew my self confidence and paved the path for what I wanted to do in the long run as a job! Don't get me wrong I loved it but it just wasn't my cup of tea in the end! I didn't see myself cutting hair and coloring hair for a lifetime! When graduation came around I graduated with my cosmetology license and my high school diploma I was definitely in the right place in life! I was already ahead of most students my age by already having my cosmetology license.
Shortly after graduation I enrolled in massage school in Dayton, Ohio! This was a 12 month program two days a week! Who wouldn't accept those classes! I fell in love with massage as soon as school started! I knew this is definitely what I was on this earth to do, massage!! In massage exchange, in class it just felt so natural massaging others and learning how to help muscles in the body and how to feel normal day to day. By seeing results in others after they received a massage is what truly blossomed me! By seeing results I know I have made an impact on someone else's life that they couldn't help themselves! Massage therapy isn't for everyone, you have to have the special touch or the "golden hands" as my clients call my hands. You have to listen with your hands and ears throughout the entire time you're with a client! Looking back now, my family knew what I was going to be when I grew up even before I did! Massage therapy has truly taught me so much in life! I wouldn't trade massage or my job for anything!!
